An Inspector Calls, Stephen Daldry’s landmark National Theatre production has just begun it's 2024/25 UK Tour and is coming to the Congress, Eastbourne from 12th to 16th November.

The production team are currently seeking a number of children and community members to be a part of the production during it’s time in Eastbourne. This is an exciting voluntary opportunity for keen young people and non-professional adults of all ages who may enjoy being part of a large-scale professional touring production.

Please see the brief below, along with the required time commitment. If you know of any suitable young people or non-professional adults within your organisation or outreach, get in touch with the team directly via AIC@pwprods.co.uk with the subject line ‘AIC Eastbourne’ and their name, height, DOB and a recent full-length photograph.

CHILDREN:

YOUNGER BOY (Male, 7-9years):

Height 4ft-4ft3 (122cm-130cm), aged 7 or older. He spends the most time on stage and should be excellent at following instructions, confident enough to be on stage alone for extended periods of time and have a very good memory. An inquisitive innocent look is best with a fun-loving streak.

OLDER BOY (Male, 10-12years):
Height 4ft10-5ft (147cm-152cm), of about 10-12. He should look as if he could believably bully the smaller boy, but in a playful, rather than overtly violent, way.

OLDER GIRL (Female, 10-12years):
Height 4ft9-4ft11 (144cm-150cm), of around 10-12. She should be able to bully and tease the older boy convincingly. The girl should be fun-loving and inventive but not overly starry.

All children should be very innocent and childlike without a trace of adult about them. They should also be able to appear as a convincing part of post-war Britain. The characters are underprivileged children able to take enjoyment in lost objects and their strange environment. It's a dark and scary setting so they should also be able to seem inquisitive and scared at times. We particularly encourage applicants from underrepresented backgrounds. None of the children are required to speak but all are on stage for a significant length of time performing to a musical soundtrack so good visual acting is important. They are looking for children keen to be involved who are good at following instructions.

CHILDREN - DATES AND TIMES:
Children will be rehearsing on Monday 11th Nov from 4pm-8pm and Tuesday 12th from 12pm, ahead of performances on Tues 12th-Sat 16th at 7.30pm, plus matinees at 2.30pm on Wed, Thurs and Sat. Children will be called for each performance 45minutes before each show.

APPLICATIONS FOR CHILDREN CLOSE  MONDAY 14 OCTOBER

COMMUNITY CROWD (VOLUNTEER WALK-ON ROLES):

An Inspector Calls is also looking for volunteers to be a part of the community crowd. The community appear at the most climactic moment of the show and provide an integral part of the strong political message of the production. They are looking for 8 theatre enthusiasts from a wide range of ages and genders (aged 18+). These are walk-on, non-speaking roles so no experience needed, just a desire to tread the boards in a professional setting!

COMMUNITY - DATES AND TIMES:
Community rehearsals will be at 2pm on Tues 12th Nov ahead of performances from Tue 12th-Sat 16th at 7.30pm with Wed, Thurs and Sat matinees at 2.30pm. Again, these are volunteer roles but provide a fantastic opportunity for individuals to gain experience of performing in a large-scale professional production in their local theatre.

APPLICATIONS FOR COMMUNITY CLOSE MONDAY 21 OCTOBER

Those interested should get in touch at AIC@pwprods.co.uk with the subject line ‘AIC Eastbourne’ and their name, height, DOB and a recent full-length photograph.
